Webuye Municipality is set to receive Sh324 million from the World Bank towards infrastructural development, Governor Kenneth Lusaka has said.
“After the long push, I am glad to report that Webuye town has been approved and upgraded to Municipality status. This will go a long way in fostering development and creation of job opportunities for residents,”he said.
Mr Lusaka announced that in the new gazette notice, Webuye town will get an infrastructural development fund from World Bank that will factor in Sitikho, Maraka, Matulo, Mihuu, Misikhu, Bokoli and Ndivisi Wards.
“Our efforts towards making Bungoma great are transformational. We are on course to better the livelihoods of our people,” he stated.
Lusaka further assured residents that projects have been initiated in every department.
“We have rolled out projects in every department. All major markets will be lit, we shall equip our health facilities, we are working on our road network to improve our economy,” he affirmed.
He assured parents that the County Government will continue executing its constitutional mandate of equipping Vocational training centres and Early Childhood Development centres.
“As a County Government, we are also streamlining the scholarship programme to ensure that our poor and vulnerable children realise their academic dreams,” he affirmed.
Lusaka was speaking in Sitikho Ward, Webuye West Sub County, where he attended the burial ceremony of the late retired senior chief Julius Macheso.
