TWO TRAINS COLLIDE IN PRETORIA, MORE THAN 100 INJURED

PRETORIA, Two commuter trains have collided at the Lynross Railway Station in Rosslyn, Pretoria, on Monday evening and more than 100 people are reported to have been injured. Rail services have been disrupted.

Metro Rail spokesperson Lillian Mofokeng says they are still trying to determine the cause of the accident.

“I can confirm that at around 6.05 this evening we had two trains that collided with each other. One was coming from Pretoria and the other was coming Ga-Rankuwa,” she told the media.

“We don’t know the details of what happened. However, we can confirm that we have people who are injured, more than 100 people. We will prioritise and assist them with emergency services. No fatality has been reported up until now.”

She adds that both trains were full at the time of the accident.
