Two people died in two separate road incidents that occurred along the Narok- Bomet highway today.
In the first incident, a matatu driver died on the spot while five other people sustained serious injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in collided head-on with a lorry at Tegero area.
Narok County Police Commander John Kizito said the Toyota Hiace Matatu belonging to Transcar Galaxy Sacco was being driven towards Narok town while the lorry was heading in the opposite direction.
Upon reaching the accident point, the Mitsubishi Fuso lorry left its lane and collided head on with the matatu vehicle.
As a result, the 50-year-old driver of the matatu died on the spot while five passengers were seriously injured and eleven others were left nursing minor injuries.
The injured were rushed to Narok county referral hospital where they are recuperating and the body of the deceased taken to the same facility’s morgue.
The police boss said they have launched a manhunt to arrest the lorry driver John Kamau Ng
ugi aged 49 years, as per his driving license number, who escaped unhurt after the accident.
The second accident occurred near Kim’s Breeze hotel along the Narok- Bomet Highway where a boda boda rider was ridden over by a bus belonging to Ena Coach at Kim’s Breeze Hotel.
It happened that both the Boda boda and the bus were heading towards Narok town and upon reaching the accident spot, the motor cycle rider who was ahead of the bus slid and fell on the highway.
The incident was so abrupt that despite the bus driver applying emergency brakes, he was unable to avoid hitting the rider who died on the spot.
Both the vehicle and the motor cycle were taken to Narok town traffic office for inspection.
