South Africa: Joint Operation Recovers R24,480 Worth of Goods

On Friday, 14 October 2016, Ethekwini Inner South Task Team in partnership with Durban Metro Crime Prevention tackled local Wentworth drug dealer, recovering drugs to the street value of approximately R14000. Members of the Task Team together with Durban Metro Crime Prevention planned and successfully executed an operation to capture the dealer after receiving information from a reliable source. The dealer has been charged with numerous drug related offences, and was found in possession of a Tarus firearm as well as 8 live 45 caliber rounds. The Task Team also recovered 4 grams of dagga, 203 pieces of rock cocaine, 18 mandrax tablets and R13690 cash. The total value of goods recovered in the operation is R24480.

Ethekwini Inner South Cluster Commander, Major General Keerath Nunkumar commended members of the Task Team and Metro Crime Prevention for their dedication to sweep drugs off the streets of the Ethekwini Inner South area. “With the festive season around the corner, we have planned numerous operations to reduce the drugs and crime around the Ethekwini Inner South area”, he said.
