South Africa: Double Murder Suspect Caught in Bluff

A 23-year-old suspect is expected to appear today in the Durban Magistrates’ Court on charges of double murder and attempted murder. The suspect was arrested on Friday at Bluff area by Cato Manor police. On 23 October 2016 at about 00:35, at Chersterville, three victims were shot by the suspect. He fled the crime scene in a Nissan Quantum. Mfundo Ngubane (30) and Mtu Buthelezi (30,) sustained gunshot wounds to the upper body and were taken to hospital for medical attention where they later succumbed to their injuries. Another victim was grazed by a bullet and sustained minor injuries. He is recovering at home. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage. After an intensive investigation, the police were able to trace the whereabouts of the suspect and he was arrested.

The KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa strongly condemned this brutal and senseless killing of people. “I would like to thank the members for making sure the suspect is arrested and face the law. The members will thoroughly investigate this case and make sure that the suspect is convicted accordingly,” he said.
