The Uriri community has hailed their Member of Parliament (MP), Mark Nyamita, for the initiating a feeding program for schools in the sub-county during the ongoing Kenya Primary School Examination Assessment (KPSEA).
On the first day of the KPSEA exams, teachers, students, and parents in Uriri Constituency were visibly excited as they received food items provided by the MP.
Rose Otieno, the Head of the Institution of Uriri Comprehensive School, stated that this marks the seventh year the MP has contributed to the food programme during the national examination period.
The two-term MP has been implementing feeding programme initiatives during the exam period at every primary school in his constituency.
‘We want to express our gratitude as a community for the assistance we have received from our MP, particularly the lunch programme. I can affirm, having been in charge for the last seven years in this school, that every school has received support through this initiative,’ said Otieno.
She added that the fe
eding programme has alleviated a heavy burden for parents who previously had to provide meals for their children during lunch.
‘Many parents struggled to deliver food on time due to various challenges, and this support has proven essential,’ said Otieno.
In addition to the feeding program, Otieno highlighted the MP’s contribution to school infrastructure, particularly the classrooms in West Kanyamkago, which have enhanced learning.
‘Apart from the feeding programme, the MP has built classrooms, and our constituency’s infrastructure has noticeably improved. Our schools are thriving, and we appreciate the good work,’ she stated.
Beatrice Atieno, a parent from Rapogi Mixed School, also lauded the MP for the feeding programme and success cards, emphasising that the initiative would allow students to have sufficient time during lunch.
She thanked the legislator for relieving parents of the struggle to provide lunch, adding that it will save time for candidates to concentrate on their exams.

nstitution at Rapogi Mixed School, Oguta Tobias, expressed his excitement about the support from Nyamita, noting that the MP has consistently assisted them, particularly since the KPSEA exams began.
‘I am thrilled to acknowledge what Nyamita has done for us. He has been supporting us since the KPSEA started, providing food for the candidates and distributing success cards that motivate students and enhance the school’s overall performance. His contributions are felt throughout the constituency,’ Oguta said.
