The regional director in charge of the Environment of the Cascades, Hassime Rabo, launched, on Monday August 5, 2024, a series of reforestation of 5,630 plants planned on behalf of the mining company Wahgnion gold operations SA ( WGO) in the rural commune of Niankorodougou, including 1,230 plants on the resettlement site of the Samavogo populations.

Following the recommendation of the Minister in charge of the Environment, Roger Baro, the provincial director in charge of the Environment of Léraba, Harouna Sandwidi in collaboration with the mining company Wahgnion gold operations SA (WGO), has buried 1 230 plants on the resettlement site of the populations of Samavogo, a village located 7km from the rural commune of Niankorodougou.

On this occasion, the regional director (DR) in charge of the Environment of the Cascades, Hassime Rabo, launched, on Monday August 5, 2024, a series of reforestation of 5,630 plants which are planned in the said municipality.

”A street, a row plantation”, ”an institution, a g
rove”, ”a place of worship, a plantation”, these are the watchwords of the State which the DR has case to partly explain their battles for vegetation cover in the region.

It should be noted that it was during his visit on December 16, 2023 for the official handover of the keys to the resettlement of the populations of Samavogo, that the Minister in charge of the Environment, Roger Baro instructed his technical services of the province, to carry out landscaping with a view to greening the site.

A total of 10 plant species from 1,230 plants were reforested in order to improve the living environment of the 181 beneficiary households.

At least 04 km of alignment reforestation could be carried out.

The district chief, representing the village chief of Samavogo, Ouattara Wagnirigué, said he was satisfied with the gesture and committed himself with his entire population to working for the survival of the plants.

For the first provincial official in charge of the Environment, Harouna Sandwidi, his agents will
carry out regular monitoring operations on the site in relation to the evolution of these plants.
