Hamdok Plans to Visit Ethiopia, Egypt to Urge Parties Resume GERD Talks

Addis Ababa: Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok said he would visit Ethiopia and Egypt soon to urge both parties to resume negotiations over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). 

According to a statement of the Sudanese Prime Minister’s Office, PM Hamdok phoned the US Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin and told him about his intention to urge the two parties to resume negotiations on GERD and complete the remaining important outstanding issues.

Hamdok and Mnuchin agreed that the negotiation process in Washington has executed a great achievement, which makes resuming this process logical.

The statement added that they also agreed that the issue of the Renaissance Dam is very urgent and should continue to be negotiated once the world has overcome the Corona pandemic disaster.

It further said the prime minister expressed through the phone call the sympathy of the Sudanese people with the people of the United States about the spread of the Coronavirus Source: Ethiopia News agency
