Kisii County Governor Simba Arati has underscored the importance of sustainable agriculture as a crucial asset in feeding the 1.2 million people living in the county.

Addressing farmers during the world food day at Kisii stadium yesterday Arati noted that the rich soils in Gusii was capable of producing a diverse range of crops and urged farmers to diversify their agricultural activities to reap maximum benefits from their

land.

Arati urged the farmers to cultivate various food types to enhance food security and improve local economies. ‘We must plant not just for today, but for the future to ensure that our families are well fed and our markets are vibrant,’ Arati stated.

Noting the adverse effects of climate change, Arati also emphasizing the need for resilient crops that can withstand harsh weather.

On education, Arati appealed to parents to enroll their children who did not qualify for degree courses to the Vocational Training Centers.

ng generation through vocational opportunities to support the community’s development.
