Government assures South West pop support in Insurance claims


The people of the South West were reminded that the government, through the ministry of finance is available to offer them support in the process of benefitting from their insurance claims.

The information was disclosed, as key players in the insurance sector of the region examined the road covered and challenges in executing successfully to aid beneficiaries.

They met in Limbe May 10, during the 2nd Insurance awareness day in the South West organised under the theme: ‘Protecting of the savings of life insurance and capitalization policy holders’.

With over 15 insurance institutions in attendance, transporters union, and representative of the ministry of finance, they discussed on ways to better delivery to the public while showcasing services.

Dispatched from the Ministry of finance – the supervisory authority, the Chief of service incharge of international cooperation, Mbeinta Lambert said the local population must not think take insurance only to evade legal sanctions. But they have to understand the b
enefits that come with it.

He frowned at some unscrupulous providers who make the insured though legitimate, suffers no pay or after very prolonged time frame. The official from Yaounde, however noted that his institution remains ready to accompany the ensured.

‘Insurance is a good thing but malpractices in the insurance sector is a bad thing… There are problems in terms of settling claims, but the ministry of finance is for you. Our main mission is to protect the insured to make sure that when they have synester, their claims are settled.’

He went on to call on the service users to make use of these support at the respective local levels.
