Addis ababa: Ethio-telecom donated 100 million birr to support the ongoing efforts combating the spread of COVID 19 in Ethiopia.
Chief Executive Officer, Frehiwot Tamiru told the media that Ethio-telecom has been discharging its social responsibility through promoting the application of technologies to help contain the spread of the virus.
The company has been disseminating information to strengthen public awareness, which is vital in the fight against the pandemic, she added.
According to the CEO, the company has been mobilizing more than 48 million mobile subscribers to fund for the national efforts to fight against COVID-19 epidemic.
“Ethio-telecom has created a platform to raise funds both from domestic and abroad in order to help fight against the spread of COVID-19, which so far enabled the nation collect over 4.4 million birr,” the CEO said.
The company has also launched various technology supported programs including “Stay @ Home Mobile Package Service, Stay Connected Service and Stay Active Service” to help the ongoing efforts to curb the spread of the virus, she added.
These programs will be effective as of tomorrow and remain till two months.
