Cameroon Amputee Federation launches activities for 2024


The launching event took place in Douala-Cameroon and was coordinated by the Handicap Vision Association (HAVA) with the leadership of Prudence Nerolel the National amputee football women’s coordinator and Cameroon amputee football vice president Usman Mustafa from the National Bureau.

The event hosted more than 20 female amputees and 20 male amputee athletes who gathered to discuss the upcoming activities and challenges.

During the launch, the president revealed that the men’s national amputee football team will participate in the African Amputee Football Nations Cup in Cairo, Egypt, a tournament which will feature 16 African teams competing for top honours and deciding the teams that will qualify for the WAFF World Cup in 2026.

The Cameroon amputee team will also be preparing for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, which will all take place in Egypt, while the women’s national team will participate in the first-ever women’s amputee football world cup in Columbia, scheduled for November 2024.

Hongla’s strained relationship with national team reason for omission from AFCON squad?

Indomitable Lion, Martin Hongla, has expressed disappointment at his absence from the AFCON 2023 provisional squad, indicating that he has not been treated fairly lately by the national team.

Martin Hongla was guest on the CFOOT radio show ‘Le Onze Entrant’ on Thursday, December 21, where he said his experience with the national team from the time he lost his dad this year, has not been good.

At the time he was bereaved he made a post citing his abandonment by the national team. It created tension which he suggested could be the reason for his omission from the squad.

‘My post was not meant to attack anyone. It came from my heart, because a man or a child when he loses his daddy, he needs his second family to help him’ Hongla said. ‘The national team is my second family. I will never regret the message because it came from my heart. I have been feeling abandoned.’

‘If today I’m not called up because of x or y, I’ll accept it.’

The Hellas Verona midfielder did not feature on Song’s provisional list for t
he AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.

‘I have no problem with anyone in the national team whether it’s the staff or the players’ Hongla reiterated. He said he is ‘simply feeling abandoned’.

Elite One Day 12: PWD and OPOPO triumph in Mbouda

The Mbouda Stadium reverberated to victories from clubs from the English-speaking regions on Friday, December 22.

In one of the two advance Day 12 encounters, PWD of Bamenda emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over Colombe Sportive.

Anafoot graduate Fritz Bongaman, scored the first goal for the Abakwa Boys in the 38th minute of the game, leading to a 1-0 halftime score.

As the second half began, the Doves from the South fiercely pushed forward to even the score, but PWD’s Billy Samin-led defense stood strong, making any breakthroughs difficult. Mael Dindjkede, a former striker for Yong Sport Academy, made his first appearance as a starter for PWD, and his second goal secured a 2-0 victory over Colombe.

In another match at the same stadium, South West Elite One team Victoria United of Limbe pulled off a 2-1 win over group A leaders Stade Renard.

Nji Richmond, Victoria United’s goal poacher bagged the first goal of the match and his 9th goal of the season from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute. In quick s
uccession, Johnson Moki scored Victoria United’s second goal in the 34th minute to make it 2-0

Just before halftime, Stade Renard’s Alexis Ako scored to reduce the lead to 2-1. Victoria United maintained the lead until full-time.

Former Ghanian striker passes away after collapsing during a match

The Albanian Federation has confirmed the demise of 28-year-old Raphael Dwamena.

The former Ghanaian international striker playing for Egnatia, passed away from a cardiac arrest during the match against Partizani in the Albanian Super league.

Dwamena collapsed on the field in the 24th minute of the match between Egnatia and Partizani on Saturday. Other players rushed over but despite immediate medical intervention, the player gave up the ghost.

Dwamena is Albanian Super League’s top goal scorer with nine goals in eight appearances for Ghana and scored twice.

The former Levante and Zaragoza player also made 8 appearances for Ghana and scored twice.

Canon of Yaoundé thwarted Bamboutos Hope’s of an easy win with a 4 minute comeback at Extra time to shake hands with a 3-3 draw in Mbouda

being a noble affair between the Potent squads, Canon opened scores through Thorgan ESSIANE at the 39th minute which was However short lived as Bamboutos responded with Katche Boris scoring at the 44th, 57th, and 68th minute to level the scoreline and take a commanding 3-1 lead.

In an astonishing turn of events, Canon made a comeback, leveled the scores at 3-3 with a goal from Eyango Priso at the 90th minute and another from Edoa Guy at extra time to secure a draw.

The draw marks Bamboutos’ first draw of the season and Canon of Yaounde’s third.
