The police removed 317 beggars from the streets in seven regions of Burkina Faso, for security reasons, the day after the press release from the Minister of Security.

On September 4, 2024, a press release from the Ministry of Security alerted national opinion to the fact that there are malicious individuals who pretend to be beggars and street vendors to spy on sensitive sites.

As of September 5, 2024, the police launched an operation in several localities in Burkina.

The first day’s results show that 317 beggars were removed from the streets of seven regions, according to information from the AIB.

These are the regions of Centre (87), Cascades (41), Centre-West (30), Plateau-Central (37), North (88), Centre-North (30) and Sahel (4).

According to AIB sources, the operation will continue throughout the national territory, in order to take into account security requirements.
