AFCON: Synafoc condemns Geremi Njitap’s restriction from entering Lions’ dressing room

Renowned Cameroonian football legend Geremi Njitap, was subjected to threats by FECAFOOT’s director of protocol, Etienne Tamo, who claimed to be acting on instructions from the President of the Cameroon Football Federation, Samuel Eto’o.

Following the circulation of information regarding the incident, the Cameroon Footballers’ Syndicate SYNAFOC published a release to clarify the public.

According to the release, Njitap who doubles as president of SYNAFOC and African president of FIFAPRO went to the Lions’ dressing room after their 3-2 victory over Gambia to celebrate, but was bundled out.

The communique from SYNAFOC also highlighted that Njitap was a personal guest of the President of the African Football Confederation and therefore had full access to all spaces at the stadium including the locker room.

Despite this, SYNAFOC condemned the action taken against Njitap and emphasized that such unfriendly conduct had given Cameroon football a bad image. They called on the national team to promote unity instea
